The final day of the 2019 Argus Audiology NB Ladies Provincial Championships at Golf Pokemouche on the beautiful Pokemouche River brought sunny skies, continued windy conditions, and three more NB Ladies Provincial Championship titles for Leanne Richardson of the Country Meadows Golf Club.

Richardson would carry an 8-stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round and would continue in her “Steady Eddy” style posting a final round five over par (+5), 77, to cruise to her fifth Argus Audiology NB Ladies Amateur & Senior Championships.

Leanne Richardson – 2019 Argus Audiology NB Ladies Amateur, Mid-Amateur & Senior Champion

After paring the first, by the time she left the second green Richardson would card just her second bogey of the event and her first on Golf Pokemouche’s opening nine holes.  Another bogey at the par four 8th would see her make the turn in a two over par (+2), 38.  Despite some small hiccups, by her standards, bogeys at the par three 4th and par four 7th for Pam Cossey would see her unable to make up any ground on the leader, while three bogeys and a double on the front for Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club’s Kathy Grebenc, would see Richardson maintain and extend her lead over her nearest rivals through 45 holes.

The back nine would see more of the same for Richardson.  While she would bogey the 10th , 13th and 14th she maintained her composure and pared in to finish with a five over par (+5), 77 / 221 and earn a 13 shot victory over Grebenc and Cossey and secure her fifth Heather Wilbur Memorial Plaque, as NB Women’s Amateur Champion, her fifth Mary Ellen Driscoll Plaque as NB Women’s Senior Champion and her third consecutive NB Ladies Mid-Amateur Championship along the way.

The round of the day was shot by 2019 NB Junior Girls Team Member, Julie Gauvin of the Fox Creek Golf Club.  Gauvin would card the round of the day, a three over par (+3), 75, thanks to a six bogey and three birdie performance, to see her move out of a tie for 5th into solo 4th.  In 5th position is Gowan Brae’s Molly MacDermaid who was ever consistent posting rounds of 83, 80 and 82 for a three day total of 245, while defending NB Ladies Amateur Champion Morgan Matchett of the Miramichi Golf & Country Club would find her form on day three posting a final round 76, to go with her 86, 85 first two rounds to move into solo 6th with a three day total of 247.

Kathy Grebenc – 2019 NB Ladies Super Senior Champion

In the Super-Senior Division (60+ years of age) it was Kathy Grebenc who posted a three-round total of 234 to defend her 2017 championship by virtue of a 14-shot victory over the Fredericton Golf Club’s Mary Walton-Rossignol (248).  Tied for third position where Golf Pokemouche’s own Jacinthe Cormier and Raymonde Boudreau who posted three-day totals of 252 to finish one better then Gowan Brae’s Brenda Parrott who rounded out the top five with a final round 83 and a three day total of 253.

The battle for Low Net of the field came down to Marie-Paule Martin of the Pine Needles Golf & Country Club and Pam Cossey of the Rockwood Park Golf Course.  In the end, Marie-Paule would bring home low net honors after a five under par (-5), net 67 courtesy of two net eagles, six net birdies, three net bogeys and one other to post a three-day total of 16 under par (-16), net 200, to edge Cossey by one shot.

In third position is Raymonde Boudreau of Golf Pokemouche (-12 / net 204) with the Woodstock Golf & Curling Club’s Jocelyn Keirstead in 4th position (-11 / net 205) and Alexandra Guitard of the Royal Oaks Golf Club who posted a 10 under par (-10), net 62 on day three to pull into a tie for 5th with Leanne Richardson at a net 206.
