This weekend marked the end of our 2025/2026 Junior Development Team (JDT) competition pre-season. 26 athletes participated in both virtual and in-person training sessions from November through April to develop advanced physical conditioning, mental performance, and technical skills in preparation for the 2026 outdoor golf season. This elite training program is designed to serve as a stepping stone for junior golfers looking to elevate their game through resources like expert coaching, facilities, and opportunities.
“The JDT is a great addition to Golf NB’s programs, helping us not only to initiate new players to tournament play but also to create a better support system for our developing competitors.”
Jean-François Richard, Golf NB Provincial Coach regarding our 2024/2025 JDT season
This support system includes mindset coaching from Dr. Ryan Hamilton, Mental Performance Coach for the Tampa Bay Lighting, and athletic performance sessions from Matt Forgie from For Fitness and Athletics, focusing on building strength and improving mobility. All of this could not be done without our dedicated Team New Brunswick coaches; Ryan Kingston, Morgan Matchett, Mark Leger and Kristi Roach.
Thanks to The Riverside Country Club, GolfNB was able to hold monthly in-person training sessions in a high-performance environment, giving invaluable opportunities to our developing athletes. Golf NB extends its sincere appreciation to The Riverside Country Club and its members for providing us with the amazing indoor golf space to allow our athletes to reach their full potential during the off-season, and for their continued generous support in advancing the development of youth golf throughout the province. We also would like to recognize and thank Under Par Golf & Academy for a fantastic final day experience.
Golf NB would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic for providing funding support that helped make this program possible. A special thank you is also extended to Philson Ltd. for their continued commitment to supporting junior golf in New Brunswick. Their contributions help provide young golfers across the province with access to high-quality training and athlete development opportunities.
